Aritro Nath, Ph.D.

Dr. Aritro Nath is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Oncology & Therapeutics Research at City of Hope National Medical Center. His expertise spans both experimental and computational biology research. He employs the integration of bioinformatics and artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) tools to investigate the fundamental mechanisms of tumor progression and to establish advanced biomarkers aimed at enhancing the clinical outcomes for cancer patients.

Dr. Nath's research employs both bulk and single-cell multi-omics approaches to identify the mechanisms behind tumor evolution and the subsequent development of drug resistance. Dr. Nath aspires to translate research findings into clinical impact, notably contributing to breast cancer treatment with novel prognostic AI/ML biomarkers. These biomarkers are now part of clinical trials for optimized treatment strategies in metastatic breast cancer patients.

Dr. Nath received his PhD in Genetics at Michigan State University with Dr. Christina Chan. Subsequently, he received postdoctoral training in translational pharmacogenomics in the lab of Dr. R. Stephanie Huang at the University of Chicago and the University of Minnesota. After completing his postdoctoral studies, Dr. Nath joined City of Hope National Medical Center in the Cancer Systems Biology Consortium Center of HoPE (Heterogeneity of Phenotypic Evolution) led by Dr. Andrea Bild.

In 2023, Dr. Nath established the Precision Oncology lab at City of Hope, focusing on understanding the mechanisms of tumor evolution and drug resistance using experimental, mathematical and computational approaches.
