The overarching goal of the Nath lab is to enhance cancer treatment and improve patient outcomes by effectively matching patients with the most suitable treatments. To achieve this, we focus on uncovering the biological mechanisms underlying tumor progression.
Specifically, our research aims to elucidate how tumors evolve during treatment and over time. Through a comprehensive examination of both tumor intrinsic and extrinsic properties, our objective is to gain a holistic understanding of why certain patients experience recurrence and how tumor cells develop resistance to therapies.
We leverage single-cell and bulk omic data from tissues and liquid biopsies collected in our clinical trials, as well as patient-derived in vitro models. We integrate multi-omic and experimental data with mathematical modeling and computational biology to study tumor evolution.
Furthermore, we harness this extensive data to develop novel predictive models for therapeutic response and patient outcomes. Our lab develops cutting-edge computational frameworks to integrate multiple modalities of clinical and omic data, and design artificial intelligence-enabled precision oncology tools for clinical implementation.
